Best all round sling/hip pack ever. Fits two 1.2L Yeti bottles, a bunch of tech gear, snacks and more. A bit big as a sling but the versatility is unmatched. When it gets too heavy, I just use it as a hip pack to make the weight more manageable. Added split buckles so I can quick mount it to my backpack. Couldn't be happier! PALS on the outside makes it super moddable, with good organization on the inside.

Je connais la marque depuis plus de deux ans, date à laquelle j’ai acheté mon premier sac un KAHAKKA 25 L qui m’accompagne partout, j’ai récemment ajouté le ASKARE et le RINTAMUS offert par proche. J’ai encore un panier rempli à commander de beaucoup de petites babioles pouvant êtres très utile pour ces sacs et les sorties que je ferais. Je recommande vivement SAVOTTA
Perfect bag for day trip. Currently using it in Botswana, as an EDC bag for bushtrips. It carries powerbank, flashlight, multitool, spyglass, phone, wallet, waterbottle (0,5l), Sunscreen, insect protection stuff, cap or hat and other small items easily all at once. To store the smaler items i use your elastic organizer on the inside and outside. To place bigger items as jacket or waterbottle(1l) on the outside i use a elastic cord and a plastic carabiner. I also use these carabiners to connect the bag to my bigger bagpack (different Brand), seems a little bit more easy to me than using your WB SR PALS-Mount System but i thing this one is better for heavy duty. I would prefer a bag Strip, both sides the same length to be more flexible with the buckle position, because i am left handed. Quality und processing of the bag is perfect, built for a lifetime!
Askare is awesome bit of gear. You can combine it with all the Savotta backpacks, use it as a hip belt on Jaakari S as shown on the pictures or use it as standalone hip pack. You can fit Bushcraft Spain Oilskin & Wool Mat Large or a small rainjacket in the "back padding pocket" on the backside of the Askare. The main compartment is well thought and it can hold more gear than you would think. As a standalone pack askare is a good cabin pack, bicycle pack, essentials pack for small hikes, city tours etc.

As usual, excellent product. I requested a modification to add a carrying handle to the bag, and they did exactly what I needed. This is true customer service. I have no interest in randomly writing positive reviews, but when I find truly exceptional products, it's right to acknowledge it. The durability has already been seriously tested: the handle easily holds 60 kg without any issues. Sturdy, functional, and well-made. It's nice to see companies that listen to feedback and actually improve their products. That's how you work.
I got frustrated not finding right saddle bags for my Interceptor 650, and then i saw this hip bag and I had an idea. With two G hooks they fit very easily onto the frame and the bottom can attach wuth elastic band from the bungee kit to the pillion foot rest. Et voilà👌perfect. And what you see on the luggage rack is a 12 l side pouch attached directly
It’s one of those pieces you don’t fully appreciate until you actually use it properly. Compact, structured, and deceptively capable. It carries tight to the body, stays stable, and doesn’t collapse into chaos like most small packs. When I’m cruising, I attach it directly to my Savotta Hatka 12L as part of the system. When I know I’ll be walking a lot, I detach it and run it as a hip belt. That flexibility is the genius of it.
Bought it in early summer of 2025, I haven't left the house without it so far. Spacious but not cumbersome, durable, and quite rainproof too, I've come to discover. I've taken it through the concrete jungle, through beaches and through mountains and it still has to let me down. Even ketchup can't tread on this bad boy. I added a bit of bungee cord to keep an umbrella strapped so I may avoid getting water inside, then an extra pouch to hold a booboo kit, and some other touches to truly make it mine. It holds my keys and wallet safely and handles all the extras of the everyday life quite fine, and the velcro surface inside is super useful to mount extra organizers if need be. Maybe it's a bit overkill for EDC, but if you're a serial hoarder and hate disorganized bags, this'll do you nicely as an all-in-one solution. You can take it on a hike on the weekends too without worries. Would recommend this (or its smaller siblings, for that matter) to everyone. Well worth the price tag.
Superb build quality (as is typical of Savotta) and a very practical design for a multitude of uses. It includes elastic organizers and four 2M WB SR PALS-mount, 25 mm, female buckles for attaching it to a Kantamus 40L. Of course, I've also included the corresponding Savotta happy patch.

Absolutely great bag, fits almost too much. Great companion to either bag from Savotta and is great as a stand alone bag as well. Just wish it had webbing on the bottom, not a deal breaker, but wouldn't hurt!

I’m a little Bit surprized , its small enough that its out of the way 99% of the time, its nice to carry (even over the shoulder) and after filling it with telephone, some small tools and some papers a small laptop still fits inside.Size is perfect, i wear jeans in 31 Inch waist as a reference. It has two small pockets inside and some straps on the other inner side perfect.

I’ve been using the Askare Hip Pack regularly for hunting, and I’m extremely satisfied with its quality and design. The bag is sturdy, weather-resistant, and thoughtfully organized. All my essential gear — knife, flashlight, ammo, hand warmers, and phone — fits perfectly and is easy to access. I especially appreciate the smart compartment layout, which keeps everything quiet and well-organized in the field. I also use it frequently when traveling. It’s comfortable to wear, compact, and still offers plenty of storage space. Overall, a high-quality, functional, and versatile pack that performs equally well during hunts and everyday use. A fantastic balance of honest simplicity, utility, and informed aesthetics. The enthusiasm for Savotta on YouTube by the likes of Tim Keys, Endurance Room and others is what set me onto Savotta, I like things that are useful in a range of situations and across a long range of time, especially under unforeseen circumstances, and Savotta's approach to making bags, and their real world experience with the Finnish Defence Forces checked all those boxes for me without crudely cashing in on that association or leaning excessively into military style. I've been using this bag every day for walking in the woods and got it with rainy days in mind: something with enough space for waterproof layers and even and umbrella, a drinks bottle, and other bits and bobs you might need in the UK. The Askare nails this for me. The construction is fantastic, I was learning a little recently about how to spot quality clothing: Short stitch lengths and no light showing through the stitched seam when tugged. No such problems here. I think I've seen one thread end on the entire construction (and it has to end somewhere). I also have The North Face Base Camp duffle bag and by comparison I think the stitch lengths on the Askare are even shorter, and the Base Camp has been a reliable bag for me and many others besides. It's my first bag with proper PALS webbing and I bought a large Brandit MOLLE Phone Pouch in Olive Green which married perfectly to the Askare. It was really useful to try multiple positions and pick the spot that worked best for me and I think that flexibility is worth the weight the PALS webbing adds and, because the PALS webbing is so strongly attached, one can pick up the bag with a single finger from any point, even when it's fully packed, and you never feel you're stressing the seems whatsoever. Savotta have videos labouring this point and I think it's actually really important: there's nothing on this bag that requires a special explanation before handing it to a stranger for fear or damage or misuse. Each part seems aware of each other part's tolerances and possibilities in away that disappears into a single personality you can depend on. That peace of mind is really important in a tool and allows me to attend to other things in life more fully. So too I find Savotta's internal organisation deceptively wise. Every pocket or loop is immediately observable upon opening, and each kind of retainer exists in only one place in only one immediately comprehensible way. This seems trivial at first, but it's the kind of self-imposed limitation that smacks of real world experience: "I don't want pockets within pockets... where did I put that torch... now I remember I put it in a zipped up thing, but which one was it again!" Looking across Savotta's entire line-up of bags and pouches I think this is very intentional and I like it a lot. There's enough play in the strap to wear it loosely over your shoulder and that's how I wear it in town and I think it looks great. Strap a colourful scarf or a bright hat to it and it looks playful and smart, the Savotta Happy Patch (pictured) also helps soften the military aesthetic a little more. I'm a skinny guy so I tuck the excess strap into the belt when wearing it on the hips, no pressing need for an elastic strap keeper. I leave a little loop in play (pictured) when tightening and this gives me two distinct tightness's: one for walking and one for pulling the bag around to your front to access the contents. Having said that, I often now just reach behind and pull out my bottle or whatever by feel alone. Drawbacks? Attaching my umbrella to the bottom did sinch the bottom of the bags material into more of a point and that makes the internal packing space a little resistant to larger items, but that's really just an unthinking expectation I had, and I wouldn't alter the bag in any way to prevent that. It's a very trivial trade-off and the bag is so moddable that I could probably add some different elastic or webbing in a more thoughtful way to mitigate bunching, or even sew additional webbing into the fabric if I wanted to. In short I love this bag. I think it'll be with me for the rest of my life and I just want to get everything else Savotta makes and start a little collection. Cheers, Marcus from the UK
I combined my Kantamus 40L with the Askare hip pack. As a forestry student and bushcrafter I'm spending a lot of time in the wild and the modularity of the 'Savotta gear is so useful as I can equip my prepacked pouches if I need them. Worth the money! Greetings from the Black Forest in Germany
I was in a search of a medium size medical bag and this one is just perfect for that application. I still have space for a little more stuff for like being in the forest while picking berries or mushrooms. It will be fun too have as my companion for many years to come.
Went on a 2 week trip to Sweden and used the Askare extensively to carry a diaper changing pouch, small ifak pouch, hand sanitizer, small water bottle and spare 35mm film for most of the time. It's truly amazing how family-friendly the Askare is. If your wife is nagging you about your impulsive tacticool purchases, make her understand that it's the perfect bag to bring to literally any outdoor adventure with the family. Picture is me on a mission to climb the top, notice how the Askare is not bothering my movements. Only downside I found with the pack is the really stiff belt size adjustments so if you want to swap between sling-bag and hip-pack use, it's a bit bothersome.
Excellent hip pack. Really comfortable to walk in it. Has plenty of space inside and can be nicely added to backpacks. Runs great on Kahakka 15 or Kantamus!
Im so happy with my Askare, just enough space for my needs. In the future i plan to use it as a photography bag. With the right inserts for the job this little bag do alot of things!

Top Qualität , lässt sich super Tragen und hat viel Platz. Hinten wo sich die Polsterung befindet die man auch rausnehmen kann um sich drauf zu setzen kann man auch statt dieser ein Stichschutz einsetzen. Ich Persönlich bin vollkommen begeistert.
Die Askare ist der perfekte Begleiter für alles was man sonst in seinen ganzen Taschen täglich bei sich trägt und noch viel mehr. Ich nutze sie selbst täglich und trage sie jedoch nie als Hüfttasche sondern Quer über den Rücken. Durch die zwei Innentaschen, kann man hier z.b. schön seine Geldbörse einstecken und den Rest so. Der Reißverschluss ist Savotta Typisch robust und auch die ganze Tasche ist in gewohnter Savotta Qualität.

I used Askare as shoulder bag on trip to Paris with DIY shoulder strap. On my flights it hold passport, snacks, battery pack and ipad. During daily trips water, maps and other EDC stuff and even umbella went along perfect. Good all-around system for travel!
