The TK26 tent stove is a compact and relatively lightweight wood burning stove, easy to transport on foot or by vehicle. Designed for the Hawu series of tents, but works nicely with our smaller MIL 10-series of field camp tents too. Due to the compact size the TK26 offers less heating power than the larger TK24, making it less suitable for larger tents (MIL 20-series) in extreme cold.
Boxy, flat shape with rounded edges. The flat shape offers stability when transported or carried strapped on top of a backpack. The folding centre support wire handle can be attached (using a suitable strap, cord or steel wire) to the tent centre pole for added stability, and it folds down over the top of the stove for transport. The firebox hatch has a simple locking mechanism, keeping it from rattling during transport.
Although the top of the firebox hatch is flat, it is not intended as a cooking surface. You can fit small pots or mugs on it, but due to heat deformation the conductivity will not be the best.
A baffle plate is attached to the top of the firebox beneath the pipe port. The baffle plate reduces emissions, adds to the burning efficiency of the stove and reduces heat escaping into the chimney, thus adding heating efficiency.
The adjustable air intake and ash hatch is a simple sliding design with protruding handle. In case of slight jamming due to heat expansion: whack it lightly with a piece of firewood to get it moving.
The folding legs offer quick and easy use when packing the stove for transport and setting it up for use. The legs have cuts to allow the stove to sit on lengths of wood for added stability on soft ground or snow. The legs should always be folded out when using the stove, to lift it off the ground to prevent the hot stove from igniting the ground below.
The chimney consists of six parts, five identical tubular pipe segments and one spark arrestor. The complete chimney packs into the stove for transport and storage.
