Kantamus 40L on Kantamus-reppumalliston pienempi malli. Monipuolinen reppu useamman päivän reissuille, sisäinen alumiinirunko antaa tukevuutta painavien kuormien kantoon. Reppupussin tilavuus noin 40 litraa, läpässä noin 8 litraa lisää tilaa ja ulkopuolella runsaasti kiinnityspaikkoja sivutaskuille ja lisävarusteille.
Color pattern:

Kantamus, eli “ihmisen kantama kuorma”, on yleispätevä, moneen tarpeeseen soveltuva ja mukautettava reppumalli. Skaalautuvuus ja kompressoitavuus mahdollistavat repun sovittamisen vaihteleviin kantotarpeisiin ja tilanteisiin. Sisäinen alumiiniputkirunko antaa tukevuutta ja painonsiirtoa painavien kuormien kantoon.
Päälokeron tilavuus on noin 40 litraa, läpän noin 8 litraa.
Molemmilla repun sivuilla yläreunassa on yksi juomaletkuportti.
Läpässä on yksi iso päälokero, tilavuus noin 8 litraa, käynti niskan puoleisen vetoketjun kautta. Läpän päällä on kuminyöristö kevyempien varusteiden kiinnittämiseen. Läpän alapinnassa on kaksi PALS-kujanauhariviä, joihin voi kiinnittää esim. makuualustan.
Läpän etuosassa on pientavaroille pieni vetoketjusulkuinen tasku, jonka sisällä on nauhalenkki D-renkaalla.
Lantiovyö koostuu kahdesta reppupussiin kiinni ommellusta 50 mm nauhasta, joissa on PALS-nauhakujasto.

Absolutely flawless. I’ve just spent a full month backpacking around Peru with this backpack, putting it through pretty much every environment you can imagine — from the desert and dry heat of Lima to the cold, high-altitude Andes, as well as rain, dust, sand and long days of travelling by bus and hiking. The comfort is simply outstanding. What I love most about this backpack is how incredibly adaptable and customizable it is. You can really make it fit your own way of travelling, which makes a huge difference when you’re carrying it for hours every day. I would have loved to have been able to get the 60L version as well, as I’m already thinking about using the backpack for longer expeditions and more demanding trips. Honestly, this feels like the kind of backpack you buy once and keep for life. I did manage to break one of the zippers on the lid, but honestly, that was after giving the backpack a lot of abuse over the month. And even then, I had a spare zipper with me and replaced it in just a few minutes, so it wasn’t really an issue. The backpack performed incredibly well in the rain, cold, heat, sand and dust. After a month of putting it through all kinds of conditions, it still looks and feels ready for the next adventure. For me, this is what a proper outdoor backpack should be: extremely durable, comfortable, versatile and built to be used hard. I’m already looking forward to taking it on my next expedition and trying more Savotta gear in the future. Thank you for making equipment that feels genuinely built for a lifetime. Keep up the amazing work!

Well, LOVE IT! Absolutely comfortable, even if a little overpacked! Quality of the products is, at least, a hundred times better than that bad 360 image quality! :D

I competed in "Lekka Piechota" - the 40 hour non-stop shooting competition in Poland with Kantamus 40. 60 km land nav, almost 500 rounds of shooting on 30 stages + tactical tasks. Zero complaints with Kantamus. For climbing or skiing I prefer ultra light packs. But the reality for military use is that gear gets abused more. And you need to carry heavier loads. In the start, our packs weighted around 18 kg with 6 kg of ammo. How well the pack distributes load becomes critical. I’m happy to take a heavier pack if it means better ergonomics and durability - even in competition setting. And it’s cool the best military packs are built here in Finland.

Just want to say that I just love my Kantamus 40L - I added 2x 4 liter side bags and it is just perfekt for me. Been on a 3 day hike here.

I wanted to share some feedback on the Kantamus 40L after putting it through a proper test in the Swiss Alps. I used it while completing the full Lagginhorn ridge from right to left, including the summit. The route involved glacier travel, scrambling, exposed ridge climbing and plenty of contact with rock. The weather changed constantly, from warm sunshine to strong wind and much colder conditions higher up. Throughout the climb, the pack stayed comfortable and stable, and I never had to worry about it. It was leaned against rock, scraped on stone and used in demanding terrain, yet it handled everything without any issues. After this trip, I can honestly say I’d trust the Kantamus 40L on another alpine objective without hesitation @topiasmikaelt

After putting the Savotta Kantamus 40 through its paces on a few proper hikes, I’m thoroughly impressed. My most recent outing was with a payload of around 14 kg, and this pack handled it beautifully. Here is my breakdown of how it performs in the field. Comfort & The Ventilation "Hack" Going into this, my biggest concern was the lack of a dedicated mesh back ventilation system. However, contrary to my expectations, the lack of back ventilation is a non-issue. Thanks to the highly adjustable harness and load straps, you can quickly tune the fit on the fly. By tweaking the adjustments, you can easily create a wedge-shaped profile between your back and the pack. This allows you to introduce a solid airflow gap whenever you feel warm, giving your back a breather before cinching it tight again for technical terrain. At 14 kg, the suspension system carries the weight effortlessly. Unmatched Versatility & Compression What I absolutely love about the Kantamus 40 is its modularity and dynamic capacity. It is a true chameleon: Stripped Down: When you don't need the full 40 liters, the compression straps allow you to compress the pack down almost to the footprint of a Kahakka. It rides incredibly flat and stable, making it perfectly usable for lighter day trips. Maxed Out: On the flip side, you can overpack this thing until the seams scream, and it just takes it. Modular Expansion: Thanks to the external attachment points, you can easily scale it up with various side pouches and extra pockets depending on the mission. Verdict The Kantamus 40 is a masterclass in rugged versatility. It bridges the gap between a compressed daypack and a heavy-duty hauler flawlessly. If you know how to work the adjustments to manage airflow, the lack of a mesh back won't hold you back at all. Highly recommended for anyone who wants one pack that can truly do it all.

I rarely write reviews. Not because I don’t have opinions, but because most products simply do what they’re supposed to do and don’t need much commentary. The Savotta Kantamus 40L bag is a different story. I recently took it on a just under 90 kilometers +20kg rucking march spread across three days. That’s the kind of use that quickly reveals what a bag is actually worth. The conclusion: it didn’t let me down for a single second. The comfort is genuinely impressive. No back pain, no issues with the load, not one moment where it felt like I was hauling dead weight. Quite the opposite, actually. Because the bag carries so well, I just kept moving. After a while I barely noticed it was there. That’s exactly what you want from a bag over this kind of distance. Durability is also not an issue. After three days and 90 kilometers it still looks the part. So does the aesthetics. I got multiple questions about the bag along the way, which says something on its own. Bottom line: an outstanding piece of kit. If you’re looking for a bag that carries comfortably, looks good, and simply does its job without compromise, this is it.

Bought the Kantamus 40L with two 6L sidepacks. Took it on a 200km trek through the Carpathians down into the east Transylvanian hills. Trekked through light snow, heavy rain, had a couple of days of high winds (up to 60km/h) through all that the pack held up with worries or issues. The backpack feels like something I will pass on to my grandchildren.

Bought mine from Partioaitta. Have used it on my first exercise with Swedish Homeguard-Hemvärnet. I asked my boss in charge and it was ok to use Savotta products. I got many questions and compliments about the Kantamus and am pretty sure more soldiers will purchase one of there own. Kantamus 40 is a perfect backpack for Hemvärnet right size and configuration. It could not perform any better. I removed the hipbelt even with 15 kilo carrying weight. Next purchase will probably be a raincover and a Hatka 12. Thanks for producing awesome stuff!

Thank you Savotta for sending this awesome backpack to me! What I mostly love about this pack is that I can adjust the capacity easily to my needs. I can add more pouches to the side or belt if needed or I can remove them easily if I want to pack lighter. Also, having more compartments makes it easier to store smaller items + you find them easier in the wilderness. I'm 196 cm tall so it was nice that I could adjust the shoulder straps. The hip belt fits nicely and fastening & loosening it is super easy. I added a water bottle pouch and a small zipper pouch to the belt, allowing me to access items that I frequently need even when hiking. This is truly a workhorse and will last for ages! @outwithafinn

I've had the backpack for a few weeks now and I'm very impressed with it. The construction is very high-quality and robust. The details are practical, simple, yet highly functional. There are a lot of MOLLE/PALS webbing loops, providing plenty of attachment points for additional pouches or gear. These numerous MOLLE loops offer great flexibility in terms of volume. You can use the standard 40L + 8L floating lid or attach additional pouches. I've also added two 6L side pouches, which currently gives me a volume of around 60L. With this configuration, I spent two nights in a castle in Germany at around -8°C. I had about 24kg of equipment with me. The main compartment has no large pockets or dividers, except for a small pocket for a hydration bladder. This allows you to fully utilize the main compartment. The hydration bladder hose exits the main compartment on either the right or left side. The aluminum frame provides excellent stability to the backpack and distributes the load evenly between the hips and shoulders. This makes carrying heavier loads for extended periods a pleasure. The carrying system is simple yet very comfortable. The backpack sits securely on the hips and is well-stabilized by the hip belt. The shoulder straps and hip belt are thickly padded, minimizing pressure points. The back padding is removable and can be used as a seat cushion or for kneeling. Very practical and functional. Alternatively, you can purchase the larger seat cushion, which is designed like the FDF sleeping mat, only smaller. I would suggest adding two thumb loops to the loose ends of the hip belt for easier pulling. This would allow you to grip the strap ends with your thumbs, eliminating the need to constantly search for them, which can sometimes be difficult to grasp, especially with gloves. The Cordura 500/1000 D material appears to be very robust. Thanks to a thick inner lining, the backpack should hardly get wet inside during rain. At the front, the backpack has a flat pocket that can be opened from one side with a zipper. I've stored my poncho and windbreaker there. The roll-top closure is very practical because it allows you to expand the volume of the main compartment. This way, you can fit more items in the main compartment. The floating lid has two compartments: a large one with 8L capacity and a smaller one for keys and other small items. This smaller compartment also has a loop with a D-ring, to which you can attach a key with a carabiner. The lid compartment is designed as a floating lid and is therefore height-adjustable. You can also attach bungee cords to the underside of the floating lid to secure your sleeping mat. Very practical. If you're looking for a lightweight backpack, this isn't it. Since this backpack is also designed for military use, it is correspondingly robust and sturdily constructed. The Kantamus 40L is an honest backpack that does without any unnecessary frills. I was looking for a backpack that was expandable and large enough to carry gear for 2-3 nights, yet small enough for a day hike. Ideally, it would hold equipment for two people for a day trip. This backpack fulfills these requirements perfectly. What I also really appreciate is the 5-year warranty and the availability of repairs and replacement parts for almost everything. That's very customer-friendly. I wholeheartedly recommend the Kantamus 40L and the Savotta company.

Store owner replied: Thank you so much for this detailed and thoughtful review! 😊 We’re really happy to hear the Kantamus 40L performed so well for you, even in tough winter conditions and with heavier loads. Thanks for trusting Savotta and for the strong recommendation. Wishing you many more great trips ahead!
I have spent the last three months in the field testing the Kantamus 40L and what i can initially say is the the ruck is everything it promised to be and more. Not only is it an extremely robust 'military grade' bit of kit, it also has a combination of design features that couldve only come from a company that has not only experience in the field, but that also listens to user feedback. Extremely comfortable, well laid out, modular and virtually waterproof, i have yet to come across any downsides. As an injured Veteran and former Firefighter, i wholeheartedly reccomend this pack for all levels of user, both military and civillian. The pack is also extremely well supported with a wide variety of "Add Ons" which help customise the Bergen to any individual needs. My favourite features are the ergonomic, easy to scure belt, molle webbing attachments, roll top "Canoe Bag" type main compartment, easy access zips and great water bladder access with drinking tube egress. Furthermore Savottas, very informative, customer service has been second to none and they offer a fairly comprehensive support and repair package should anything go wrong!. Thats shows confidence in their kit!. Top Tip, 6L Side Pouches are well worth the extra investment. Wearing the Kantamus has left me feeling extremely confident in the field and due to the hip belt design it helps prevent any irritation of my injuries. WELL DONE SAVOTTA! 🐺🖤💯 Steve, Nor'Folk Bushcraft

I have been fighting as part of the Ukrainian Armed Forces for over 2 years now. Savotta has been actively supporting Ukraine and it's fighters for a while and we are extremely grateful for that. I reached out a year ago and asked if they would be able to help me out with some gear. They sent me their new Kantamus 40l + two 6l side pouches and a Multicam scrim cover free of charge. This backpack has been accompanying me on some difficult missions throughout the last year in Donbas and Sumy. So far it has survived without any problems. The workmanship and craft Savotta puts into it's gear are incomparable to most other brands. Everything feels perfectly sturdy and is in its right place. It's spacious enough to be packed with mission-critical gear for at least a week. Especially with the two very practical side pouches. Contents are always easily accessible through top and side loading zippers. Even heavy loads like ammo cans are not an issue. Because of its design, including the internal aluminium frame and broad shoulder straps, it's a genuine delight to carry with body armour. Much more comfortable than other backpacks. I am very glad Savotta decided to donate this backpack to me and will use it until either I or the backpack disintegrate. Thanks a lot guys, appreciate the help.

Store owner replied: Absolutely wonderful to hear that 1) you're still alive and kicking and 2) the Kantamus has served you honourably! We wish you the best of luck in all your endeavors and please, spread the good word of our gear among your fellow defenders of Ukraine.
Took Kantamus 40 with addons to 4 day trip to Finland archipelagon. Main compartment took Hilleberg Nammatj GT 2, sleeping bag and spare clothing. Sidepouches took food and cooking kit and raingear. Main lid was like messy garage with all kinds of stuff rolling around. Put Hatka under the lid to hold puffy jacket and binoculars. Overall the pack is sturdy. For winter 60l is more suitable but summer use 40l is at it's place. Only negative that I can put my finger on is the large main lid where small items spin around. Large stuff like rain jacket or winter gloves are easier to find.

The Savotta Kantamus 40L absolutely delivered on our Ardennes trip! We could tell right away it’s built for real field use: the fabric, buckles and webbing all feel over-engineered in the best way, and the pack sits upright even when fully loaded like in the photo. It shrugged off damp ground and dripping branches — exactly what you want in that autumn mix of sun + wet leaves. What I liked most is how modular it is. All those attachment points make it super easy to strap on extra gear (like the roll at the bottom in the picture) without the pack getting sloppy. It’s very much a “configure-it-how-you-like” ruck. And I have to mention the people behind it: communication with the Savotta team was very friendly & surprisingly fast and helpful — it matched the quality of the pack itself. Bottom line: rugged, weather-ready and endlessly adaptable. The photo from the weekend kind of says it all.

Awesome backpack, very comfortable even when packed very heavy. Key features for me are the quality & durability (I have broken other backpacks in the past from overpacking/ rough outdoor use) and the modularity. I have the 6L side pouches & 12L Hatka I can attach when needed. Used recently on the High Sierra Trail (California) and it was perfect. If you're after a lightweight backpack look elsewhere!

Great backpack! Already put through a few training exercises. It seems very rugged but haven't put it through enough torture to draw conclusions. The side zipper into the main compartment is great for quickly getting sleeping or cold weather gear in and out. Though I miss having a separate sleeping compartment. Other than that - love it.

Great expandable backpack with a lot of features. Military looping system adds massively to this “only “ 40 L backpack. First hike for me was Fisherman Trail in Portugal (220 km was the version we did). Coming from another backpack it took me a little time to figure out settings etc but a well padded shoulder strap and belt helped. As mentioned very flexible with top lid a potential mini pack if needed.

The Kantamus 40L is a very well fabricated backpack. The back and hip pads are perfekt to assist carrying heavier loads. The modularity with the different pouches and extentions are awesome to change it for your current needs. I use it from 1-3 day tours. Very durable and fairly waterproof. Did not regret it 🙏🇫🇮

It has been great. For day trips the capacity is more than enough, you can really get stuff on it if have straps and imagination. It holds weight great and distributes it well. Does not jiggle or bounce. I tested if it holds water by throwing it in a lake. It does. I will never need another backpack. What I will do, is get accessories for it. You can easily increase the capacity to cover many days on a hike, and smaller pouches for convenience and special needs. I have full confidence that this holds up for all my trips through tough forest and scraping on some rocks. Other backs don't compare and I won't listen if someone tries to tell me different.

As always the Savotta gear is the best of the best. The Savotta Kantamus is a great backpack, very rugged and confortable to take on big hikes. Once I bought the bag pack I was hooked and bit by bit bought more items, like side pouches and a hip pack. My latest item I added to my gear is the sitting pad. Its lite, its padded and comfortable and easy to stow under the bag pack. Every now and then when resting at a trail I would grab the pad and create a bit of comfort. Another value which I discovered later on is that the pad will deter bugs like ticks to crawl into your shorts. Especially if you spray the pad with Deet or anti tick spray. So yeah I'm happy and it will definitely go on a few more hiking trips.

Couldn’t be happier with this bag. I brought it out recently for an overnight hike in the mountains; it was very comfortable to wear, and had enough attachment points that I could easily stow all my gear I like to take for camping. I paired this with two 6L side pouches and the Hatka 12L, which I now use regularly as a day pack on its own. I really like how modular this system is, and the quality is extremely good. I look forward to having this bag for many years to come. Next test will be the Dolomites this summer 🤙

Top Quality construction and incredibly well designed bag that is insanely durable and versatile it can work as a day bag, weekend bag or long trips as it can go from it's 40+ litre to feeling more like 100 litre if required. Webbing on bottom of rucksack usefully for attaching gear the top lid is massive inside and the floating lid that holds almost anything that you put between it and the rolltop really boost the amount this bag carries. Construction of straps and hip belt with repair in mind is amazing especially when considering how durable and comfortable they are. I really like the design of the shoulder straps and when paired with the removeable foam pad and aluminium frame they all make this pack carry 30kg like a champ. The linning of the bag keeps gear dry and the (sold separately) side pouches are built with the same quality. Side entry zip is very handy but I love the inclusion of the pouch on the otherside for tarps and extra gear it's little design decisions as well as bomb proof construction some of the stuff I've mentioned and so much more that elevate this pack to a level that absolutely justifies the price. The pack is just amazing
